Atlanta Comics Creators

Welcome to Southern capital of comic book professionals

I'll kick this one off.

I'm Sean Taylor, and I write for IDW's Gene Simmons Dominatrix and Gene Simmons House of Horrors comics. I'm also working on two books for Arcana and a few others at the moment. More info on my page. I'm the former EIC of Shooting Star Comics and the former managing editor of Elfin (now Campfire) Comics.

Lots more info at www.taylorverse.com, my official website.

I'm Blake Wilkie, I live in Stockbridge, and freelance doing just about anything be it, pencils, inks, or coloring. Usually I do either just coloring or full art on comics or gaming illustration. I've done work for Image, Arcana, Upper Deck/Disney. The bulk of my work has been for small press companies. I'm working on my first novel cover painting, which I'm excited about.

I'm also currently art director for Rising Phoenix Creations, formerly Black Chalice Studios.

Samples of my work can be seen on my agent's website at Serendipity Art Sales.

I'm Ryan Eldridge. I just moved from the Buford area into Buckhead. I write comics. My first book is coming soon from Highburn Studios. The first issue is scripted and in the hands of the artists. But, I'm wanting to do some creator-owned stuff with local people.

I've been wanting to do a site like this for a while now. But it looks like someone beat me to it. I think Atlanta could really use a good way to keep creators connected.

Hey Clayton. Even though you're not technically an Atlantan, I'm glad you're here since we're working together on the Bengal Cat book.

I'm D.C. White, I'm from Smyrna (by way of Virginia). I've done work for tons of smaller publishers, and indy comic groups including Jester Press, and The Ultimate Comics Group. I have also contributed concept art for the independant film Villikin Chronicles, and clip art for numerous magazines, and newspaper ads. I also created, and provide the art for the online comic strip Roth and Earl: http://www.rothandearl.net (though I've been lax on new strips after a sheduling conflict with the writer).

I'm currently too broke to afford a personal website (avoiding free servers like the plauge), but I have work posted on my myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/holierthancow ).

oops! Missed the intro thread.

I'm Greg Carter, resident of Sandy Springs, GA, and I've been putting comics on the web and into print for a little over 5 years now. Yes, I got into comics late in life but the web provides an excellent learning environment.

My current main project is Abandon: First Vampire, which is serialized online HERE and can be bought in ink-and-paper version HERE.

I also have three more full-size comics in various stages of "pre-production", as well as a couple of mini-comics.

I'm also contributing to several anthologies, the one nearest to release (May 2009) is WORK! Panels for the People - MySpace and blog.

Oh, and I run the online artist collective and small press publisher UpDown Studio. After being dormant for a while, we are kicking into gear again.

Howdy, Y'all!

My name is James Ritchey III (in measure tones--as if presenting an award at the Oscars--then comes thunderous applause).

I like to write and draw 'Fringe-y', Punk-Pulp 'Illustories (coined from the great Charles Biro)', about mentally ill people with special abilities--who like to wear colorful costumes and beat each other up.

I know.

It sounds sick.

The sickest part is that on rare occasions, people actually like to pay me to do this, when, for some unfathomable reason, they decide they like my art. On even rarer occasions, I'm able to convince these poor fools to let me write (which I'm actually quite better at--but let's face it--anyone who likes what I do enough to hire me has serious mental problems and an inability to discern good from bad).

I do this dated, 'retro-futuristic', pointless crap (and indulge in my beautiful delusion that I'm a real 'Artiste') because I can't stop (except in those weeks that I've got "The Block"--which seems to mysteriously go away when people give me money).

I want to write like Steve Gerber from a plot by Philip K. Dick, and Draw like an Alex Toth/Nick Cardy/Gil Kane hybrid with Johnny Craig Finishes when I grow up.

That's all. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Peace, JRIII

My name is William Satterwhite and I currently live in Douglasville. I have a webcomic called Stealth that I've been doing on and off again for a number of years and put out a printed edition in 2005. Aside from the Comixpress link in my profile, my comic's site is http://www.williamsatterwhite.info/stealth.

Hello!

My name is Rachel Keslensky, and depending on what time of the year it is I either live in Dunwoody, GA, or Atlanta, GA. Either way I'm in the area.

I do the weekly webcomic Last Resort, featuring an entirely too large cast of characters involved in a deadly, futuristic reality show, which somehow also has vampires and furries thrown into it for good measure.

I've been doing this for about a year and a half so far, and it's been... interesting, to say the least. I'm learning rapidly, but I'm not sure if that's enough. I suppose by the time I finish up this next storyline and/or put out my first book, I'll feel more confident about everything.

FAQ

What is this network?

The Atlanta Comics Creators network is just what it says it is, group of Atlanta-based comics creators who use this online resource to make connections, build peer relationships, and further their comics careers.

Who is invited to join?

All mainstream, indie, or webcomic artists, inkers, writers, colorists, editors, and publishers; animators; and pop art and low brow creators local to the Atlanta area.

What can I do here?

Take part in forums to pick the minds of other creators, mentor and be mentored, develop small groups based on locale for real life connections, show off your work, form creative teams, network into national and international markets based on current members, and more to come, such as chat functions and more.

Why should I take part?

Because working in this industry tends to isolate us more than pull us together. Because you never know who your next boss or co-worker will be. Because making friends among your peers is a good practice. Because somebody worked really hard to try to make this place a useful resource, dang it.

What are "groups"?

"Groups" are ways of hooking up by common interests (such as manga or webcomics), location (North Atlanta or Downtown), job focus (artist, writer, pop art, or animator), or any other criteria that bonds us together in groups of people that can help each other become more effective or just hang out and enjoy each others' company.

Where can I get more info about this network?

Email the guy who created it. For more info about him, click this link.
